I know I go on about this a lot, the Facebook throttling pages reach but since they have ramped it up again its almost reaching the stage where FB pages will be a pointless waste of time. Facebook filters EVERYTHING, even your friends and family updates. Facebook decides what you get to see. To a degree you can influence this by interacting with people and pages you want to see content from but its not a guarantee. What were working towards is a Facebook timeline what will contain a FEW of your friends updates and the pages posts from the big brands that can put in big money behind every post. In short what youll end up with is some personal stuff and a load of brand name adverts. If you once happened to like say, Marks and Spencers page a year because they had a competition on and never ever interacted with it again, it will suddenly appear in your timeline if they pay the most to promote their post. The pages you interacted with once and then never again will replace the content YOU want to see. Other social networks try to give you everything. You Tube actually pays the content creators, Facebook charges them. If there were a viable alternative at the moment, wed all move there and send a clear message but lets be honest, there isnt one just now and were stuck with Facebook as it is so the best we can do is make the most of what we have.
