I know I shouldnt be thinking of things like this, but I am devastated by what happened in Paris and what is happening in a world that has so much beauty in it, that gets lost sometimes in the mire of hate and ignorance. I wrote this poem about a year ago and I was truly concerned about posting it. But I want to know. I want to share this message of love and hope that we all continue to reach out and embrace what we dont understand and grow in that reckoning. Much love everyone I want to bridge the gap between Muslim and Jew Protestant and Catholic, the many not the few Dont want to hear about whos right or wrong and whose messiah gets to sing our song Jesus, Mohammed, Buddha were all men, last time I checked woman were our best friends So why do we have to have borders and walls and rules about love when theres plenty of room for us all If our body is a temple and our minds set us free Then why are them shackles still locked around me If I lie back in a meadow and look to the sky above and pray to my dead father, then who defines that love And when I taste a miracle and feel deeply spiritual does it always have to have a name? We, who are always persecuting in the name of some deity, When every book weve read says love each other equally I think we dont know how to read between the lines Where true love lives, tangled up in the vines So pour me sacred and free from this woven mess and show me true love that Im sure exists If people tell me John Lennon was a dreamer and well never have peace I say show me more like him so his spirit one day can rest. I can see it I can hear it More than we know This world needs to grow Breaking down borders and walls True love exists out there, for us all
