I know Im asking for a crap storm with this one, but I wanted to - TopicsExpress

I know Im asking for a crap storm with this one, but I wanted to share some thoughts Ive been having. I want to start by saying that I am grateful for and applaud everything that feminism has won in this country. I know that there are basic human rights that are denied to women in many homes and countries and I will stand and fight with anyone willing to do something about that. But I have to ask. What about the men? I just saw a post that said half of all the women murdered in the U.S. last year were murdered by their partner. That is horrible and unacceptable, I agree. But what about the men in our country who are so incapable of expressing and managing their emotions that they hurt the people they love the most? And how many of them were abused? What about the men who are not violent or depraved but who will always be a little bit suspect just because they are male? I grieve for women oppressed by governments run by extremists. But what about the husbands and fathers forced to work for groups whose ideology they personally oppose because that is the only way to feed their families? Yes lets give women more freedom and power but lets give our men more pride and trust. Yes lets redefine womens roles in the home and the workplace but lets respect and honor the role of the husband and father and celebrate men who go to work every day to provide for their families while the media calls them boring, racist, or whipped. Womens rights will come faster and easier when we build up our men and boys and teach them to do the same to us. Thats what I mean by human rights.
