I know annie Wilkes does some very not-nice things in this movie - TopicsExpress

I know annie Wilkes does some very not-nice things in this movie (even worse in the book!) but she makes many good points about the responsibilities of authorship and the importance of connecting to readers. what she says is so prophetic. there was severe profanity in books in mainstream books for over a hundred years and in movies since the 60s but it wasnt until the mid-90s or so that every other novel or screenplay had triple digit numbers of expletives in them and its only gotten worse in the age of cable prestige dramas and faux-gritty priv-lit (often written with the sole purpose of getting a movie or miniseries deal). her main argument still holds up, nobody talks like that unless theyre super mad or trying to intimidate someone. you dont go to the bank and say I got this big bastard check, now give me my Christing money except now people kinda DO talk like that because maybe they fancy themselves some grizzled anti-hero with a history. Relax, youre not on HBO. YOURE NOT EVEN ON AMC. at best youre an extra on some low-rated Netflix original where youll get killed in the first five minutes. Off-screen cuz mister, you aint worth the squibs.
