I know in three weeks many of us will be chatting about something else other than another dead celebrity. We did it with other greats such as Elvis, Michael Jackson, Paul Walker, Whitney Houston Etc... Stay with me here. I have got critiqued when I have mourned over celebrities that I didnt know or made to feel stupid for mourning them when more valuable lives are lost everyday including soldiers! Of course soldiers, children, and family are all heartbreaking because they touch us the most. It seems odd then, to mourn for those that are not in that circle. Funny thing about the arts though, they touch you in a different way. People wonder how I get close to people so fast. It is because I am funny. Because of this gift I can get closer to you than your parents and sometimes even your best friend. Laughter is powerful, it makes people feel closer to you than they really are because you touch them differently than those closest to them. I grew up with Michael making my Mom, Karen, dance in the kitchen with me. I watched Whitney bring people to tears at my graduation from elementary school. I also saw Robin make my mom almost pee herself (sorry mom, it was true!). I also saw him touch my girlfriend at the time in her heart with a simple clown nose and laugh in a way I couldnt make her laugh. He was great at it. Robin later made me cry when he grew up and then returned to Neverland. I will mourn celebrities that have touched me. Not because they are celebrities but because they were in my living room and in our hearts in my most formative years. #bangerang
