I know its a bit funny, but Ive always compared photography to steak. :) For instance: Say I really want some steak. I could go to Steak and Shake and get a steak burger for really cheap, but you better bet they arent cooking to order and I probably wont be satisfied for very long, and Im probably not going to brag about the food I got. I could also go to the store, buy a steak, and attempt to cook my own, because really, you just need a grill and some steak right? But I dont know how to cook a steak. I may have the tools but I havent been taught what to do to make the steak flavorful, tender, and yummy. Chances are, Im not going to be happy with what I make. I could also go to Applebees and order a steak, and it fits my budget but its kind of hit-or-miss there. Sometimes the steak is wonderful, sometimes its just alright. Or I could go to a steakhouse that is famous for its steaks, that specializes in it, and the chef has been cooking steaks for years and knows what cut is good, what seasonings and marinades tastes best, and how to cook each steak so that his customers leave full and happy. Sure, that steak may cost more, but that is the steak Im going to value and be happy with and post a picture of on Instagram. ;) I cant afford a steak all the time, but when I want to celebrate a special occasion or go on a fancy date with my husband, we may not eat out for a few weeks so we can save up for this special outing. Because we know the value in it, and well have a wonderful experience. Id take one good steak over five fast food burgers any day. :)
