I know nobody cares but me. Kitchen Scenes Studios greenscreened - TopicsExpress

I know nobody cares but me. Kitchen Scenes Studios greenscreened videos have been shot in my living room all this year in front of a mammymade system of green curtains acquired at different times and made of a diversity of fabrics - all because of a particular afternoon lighting situation that was mysterious until last week when I figured out why I can shoot two or three feet from the green screen without making a shadow that Final Cut Express (thats right, Im a dinosaur) cant accomodate. No, it is NOT impossible to greenscreen in a small apartment! You will not be able to make Star Wars in a small apartment, but you can create an amazing amount of illusion without the lights you cant have because theres not enough space for both those lights in a small apartment AND the most important thing, the tripod or human holding the camera. And please please please dont just give up on your idea because you dont have the ideal situation in which you can place the action at least 8 feet from the green screen and light the actors and the green screen separately. That would be so cool, but do you want to make a movie or just talk about it in a bar and kick yourself in your flat arse with your arthritic knee when youre 90? Please. Although my system of curtains acquired at different times and made of a diversity of fabrics wont work anymore (primarily because the layering of the curtains creates shadows that I just cant fix without softening/feathering to death in Chroma Key and I cant even get the green screen effect to work at all to create a crisp image at all because of the complex shadows), in spite of this, I have pulled off some miracles in this tiny living room. The reason: when you pull the blinds in the living room in the afternoon or on an overcast day with that uncomfortable weird glare that causes migraine, the light is so diffuse that it lights both green screen and actor with remarkable evenness. But what my reflective ceiling cant do is evenly light my mammymade system of green curtains acquired at different times and made of a diversity of fabrics. Today I began figuring how to return to the kitchen, where the setup is so much easier - i.e., it takes five to ten minutes to move everything away from the wall in the kitchen as opposed to hanging and getting right positioning of all that a mammymade system of green curtains acquired at different times and made of a diversity of fabrics.
