I know not many people in Ireland or Scotland watch or care much about NASCAR Auto Racing. But this story goes far beyond racing. NASCARs Top race is Like the World Cup, World Series or Super Bowl. But it is the very first race of the year. Dale Earnhardt SR drove The Chevrolet MR Goodwrench Chevy. Painted Black. He was also the last car you wanted to see one the last lap and The MR Goodwrench Chevy was in your Rear View Mirror, if he knew he was faster than the car in front of him, he let them know by tapping their rear bumber with his front bumper. He had raced so long and won so many races he started his own race team. His Son Dale JR in the Budweiser #8 and one of his best friends who in close to 500 races had never won a race. But Dale Sr gave him a car. On lap 173, (the last Lap) Earnhardt Sr and his familiar black #3 car were running in third, with his two of his race teams cars, the blue #15 NAPA Chevrolet driven by Michael Waltrip and the red #8 Budweiser Chevrolet run by his son Dale Earnhardt Jr., running first and second in front of him. Instead of going for the win Dale Sr blocked the cars behind him letting his son and best friend race for the win. The car behind Earnhardt SR came into contact with Earnhardts left rear bumper. spinning him around. Earnhardt Srs car then hit the concrete retaining wall going at 157 to 161 mph (253 to 259 km/h). His two drivers didnt know what happened. Dale Earnhardt Sr died on impact. He gave his life for his son and best friend. His best friend won the race Michael Waltrip. A true friend and a real father.
