I know some musicians debate the rights and wrongs of cover bands/Tribute Bands whatever, but some of these bands are really excellent! Also, what is fan supposed to do if the original band no longer exists or is not touring? So, this week I made a journey to Ryhl in North Wales Not to see the Sensational Alex Harvey band, er... I mean to see Not The Sensational Alex Harvey Band - a gig promoted by the great Mike Lloyd who brings fantastic live acts to the people of North Wales. I had not seen this band before and I was also unaware that they are based in Switzerland, but what a night! What a fantastic band who wonderfully capture the spirit of the early 70s when Alex and the band were in their full pomp and glory. I was lucky enough to see SAHB in those days and it was always a show rather than just a rock gig. Not SAHB get this spot on and are fantastic musicians and, as I found out after the show, really nice people too! Ill be back to see them as soon as I can, but they are in Scotland this weekend so check them out if you can - superb!
