I know some of you may be wondering what was the deal with my neck so I will tell you and hope that if you see yourself in this you wont put off doctor appointments like I did. My neck has always hurt, always been sore. When I was younger and athletic I used to crack it everyday. As Ive gotten older the pain has gotten worse and it became something I just lived with. In Sept the pain intensified to the point that I was screaming and crying at night. The next day I went to the dr. For two weeks we treated for muscle strain. Wasnt that. Next was an MRI that showed deterioration of the discs in my neck. Two weeks later I saw my neurosurgeon for the first time. He told me that in my neck C-3 to C-6 discs looked like they belonged to an 80 year old person. My neck also curved the wrong way. Surgery scheduled for a week later. He fixed everything. Have a 3 incision in the front of my neck and a 4 one up the back. Neck brace for 3 months. 1 year to full healing and recovery. The scariest part came after it was done. Dr. Petr came out to talk to Tim and Michael Gazdick he told them that if I had let this go another year the calcium buildup was so bad that I could have become paralyzed and been on a respirator for the rest of my life. I know this was long, my apologies. My point is dont let small things go until they become large things. Get your checkups. Get your mammies and prostate exams. Get unusual freckles and moles checked. If you have extreme headaches or just feel unusually rundown...go to the doctor! Do it for your family and friends and everone that loves you.
