I know that World Cup fever has taking over most sport fans, but theres lots of Track & Field action taking place. Over in New York at the Adidas Grand Prix which is the sixth of 14 Diamond League meets and being held at Icahn Stadium, four of T&Ts elite athletes will be on display. First up will be Jehue Gordon in the 400m hurdles, where he comes up against some of the worlds best in the likes of Michael Tinsley; Bershawn Jackson; Javier Culson; Félix Sanchez and Lj Van Zyl. Jehue will be in lane six. Lalonde Gordon is up next in the 400m dash, where he will have his work cut out against Lashawn Merritt; Luguelín Santos; Youssef Ahmed Masrahi and Tony Mcquay. Lalonde runs from lane one. Cleopatra Borel will be throwing in position one against Valerie Adams; Yevgeniya Kolodko and Michelle Carter just to name a few. Last up and certainly not the least will be Keston Bledman in the 100m dash running in lane 8 against Ln1 Ryan Bailey; Ln2 Trell Kimmons; Ln3 Marvin Bracy; Ln4 Nesta Carter; Ln5 Yohan Blake; Ln6 Kemar Bailey-Cole; Ln7 Gerald Phiri; and Ln9 Charles Silmon. Meanwhile over at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships being held in Eugene Oregon. Wayne Davis II will be in lane five and Durell Busby in lane one of the 110m hurdles finals. Also competing today will be Steve Waithe. The Pennsylvania State University student bids for honours in the mens triple jump. Both Janeil Bellille and Deon Lendore, bronze and gold medalist from yesterday will be back on the track today where they will try and help their school Texas A&M go for the gold in the 4X400m relays. In the mens 4x100m final, Shermund Allsop is expected to be part of the Louisiana State University (LSU) team Also right here at home, Josanne Lucas is among the athletes expected to be on show at today’s President’s Classic, at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain from 4.20 p.m. Lucas, the 2009 IAAF World Championship women’s 400 metres hurdles bronze medallist, was forced out of the 2012 London Olympics with a serious knee injury, and missed the entire 2013 season. But she is back on track in 2014, The President’s Classic is an invitational meet, and will also feature sprinters Rondel Sorrillo, Jonathan Farinha, Kyle Greaux and Reyare Thomas, and half-milers Jamaal James, Alena Brooks and Jessica James.
