I know that a lot of my clients are nervous about letting their puppies off the lead. Heres the reason I tell them to get them off (where its safe) as soon as you can. Puppies at Guss age have a natural instinct to follow you and stay close. You can use that to train the recall right from the start. Watch how Gus is checking out where I am despite where Hamish goes. I know its hard to let them off but if you miss that opportunity, its even harder to do it when theyre bigger.
