I know we havent had much rain yet, but... The threat of severe thunderstorms with damaging winds and heavy rainfall for the Whitsunday region is significant from now until Friday. Widespread daily rainfall totals of between 50-150 mm expected over this period, with isolated 24 hour totals in excess of 250mm possible. This may lead to localised flooding and road closures over the coming days. The situation will be monitored carefully over the coming days and further updates posted as deemed necessary. The rainfall totals expected are not particularly out of the ordinary for the wet season, however localised areas directly impacted by severe thunderstorms might see some significant rainfall.
