I know were all about to hit the point where we go do any of our opinions really matter regarding the Michael Brown stuff, but I want to address something thats getting posted a lot. A white guy gets killed by a cop, why isnt anyone up in arms about that?! Because theres not an extremely long and storied history of white people being oppressed in this country? Michael Brown isnt about one case, its about a system thats built against minority men in this country. Its a totally different scenario. Just because you dont directly see racism from the police force doesnt mean it doesnt exist. Here are some stats: 86% of searches and 93% of arrests in Ferguson are of African-Americans, even though white people have been caught contraband more. African-Americans comprise 13% of the U.S. population and 14% of the monthly drug users, but 37% of the people arrested for drug-related offenses in America. African-Americans are 33% more likely to be put in jail for felony crimes they did than white people who did the same thing. Yeah, Michael Brown might not have been a saint. But did he need to be to have the right to not be murdered? We can argue back and forth about this 1 case. But I think we should all come together on the fact that: A) Theres clearly false information on both sides B) Police need video cameras to help prevent them from abusing power. https://youtube/watch?v=8xf3aoYH8w0 Also, if youre going to post one case that Conservative Daily (great source by the way guys?), please remember that things like this happen every day.
