I learned something today. A parasite found in cat feces is endangering our sea otters and possibly seals! It is carried through water systems and through run offs into our waters (rivers and oceans). What can you do? Clean up any cat feces found outdoors, keep your cats indoors, DO NOT FLUSH LITTER (even if its the flushable kind! ) and make sure you seal up the dirty litter and throw it in the garbage. Heres a simple article that explains a little bit. Also, side note, if you have a compromised immune system (cancer, AIDS, etc) the parasite can have sever devastating effects, even death. Wear gloves and a mask, talk to your doctor if you have a cat and have any illness or disease or on meds that compromises the immune system. seaotterresearch.org/resources.shtml
