I like easy ;) but my class is somewhat more difficult than I thought it would be... I thought a class on medieval Spain how hard could it be!? Its just a small piece of land that you are studying a certain era about right!? The things I didnt consider are language...there were Arab Muslims so many names of people are Arabic and there were Spanish speaking Christians so there are place names and people in Spanish and the Jews which spoke Hebrew... For example Spain was originally called the pensulua of Iberia and then at one point it was called Al-Alunda (sp?) by the Arabs and then it was called Hispania by the Christians....then you have the towns which changed names based on who had taken over at what time like a town may be called for example Cordoba when the Spanish Christians had taken it over but abd hulum when the Arabs took it over...but your book is talking about the same location just called a different name when the warring factions took it over...and then you have groups of people giving other groups of people names....think African American vs black....you had the Moors who were also called Berbers and they were Arabs from North African that came to Spain and then you have the Arabs from the Middle East that were from the uyyumud (sp?) area both sets of groups were Muslims but one group was more like country less sophisticated place like Kentucky and the other group of Arab Muslims were like being from New York .....it just makes reading very difficult to follow bc u r like who and what and where!? :( whod have thought there would really be so much to learn about a little piece of land in a specific era!? just trying to put all the pieces together and so far I am only two classes in to it....
