I listened to the communications of the BFD as they went from 2, 3, 4 and 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 alarms. That is the highest the system goes... I listened to Engine 33 trapped in the basement say that it was getting hot and they needed water... And if somebody was coming to get them. As the fire erupted fed by the wild wind all companies were ordered out and when Engine 33 called Mayday channel 2 became dedicated to their communications. Everyone else was to use channel 3... I heard much, much more. I heard when Engine 33 stopped responding. Listening was life altering for me. I am fortunate to be able to listen. You are fortunate to read this now. I heard the voices of heros. Its not cliche for me. It never will be and I cant tell you how happy I am to be alive.
