I lit a candle for my late mooshum Ernest Mike who served in the Korean War today and watched as my little cousin laid a wreath for my great-great grandfather Gabe Gardipy who served in World War I. It was humbling being in the presence of so many great people -- people who knew the true meaning of sacrifice. It was inspiring to see our community come together to honour our courageous warriors. The best part however, was the small impromptu round dance that occurred after, and the meal that proceeded. It was the best demonstration of why our veterans served and continue to serve -- the preservation of our culture and our communities; and the well-being of our families. For that, I will be eternally grateful. #NeverForget.
