I live in a rural suburb on a large lot; it’s an acre and a quarter’s worth of land. On that land I have the worst possible combination of animals. I have gophers and terriers; three terriers and around a million gophers. The terriers do what terriers do. They dig. I know; I know you’re going to say they are hunting the gophers but they are much better diggers than they are hunters. I was outside this morning picking up dog toys…that’s another story…getting ready to mow. I was also filling in holes. As I was standing there shovel in hand, one of the Jack Russell’s started digging in a hole I had just filled. I looked at him and told him if he didn’t stop digging I was going to write him out of the will. My wife, Pam, who was sitting on the patio in the shade of the umbrella, looked at me with one of those coy little smiles, then she looked at the dog and told it not to worry, everything we own is joint property and she would see to it that I died first. Maybe I should rethink that will thing.
