I looked into the eyes of an angel. She was putting her hand in - TopicsExpress

I looked into the eyes of an angel. She was putting her hand in mine and marveled at how huge my hand was compared to hers. She said I must be a strong man and could lift up the world. Saving the weak when they feel bad. She traced my hand, bending and twisted each finger. Folding her hands in mine she said how warm my hands feel. Like a blanket and soft like her teddy bear. She asked if her hands would get that big. I asked her mom to come over and put her hand in mine. I said: See how big your moms hand is compared to mine? See how our fingers and palm meets just the same size and warmth? You have your mothers hands and will grow just as strong and warm to hold others when they feel sad or afraid too. She got so excited. She started walking around the hospital floor, putting her hand in everyone around saying. See I will have big strong hands like my mom. I can be a supermom too, when I grow up! We took her back to her room, put her in bed with her teddy bear and kissed her goodnight. Her mother stayed by her in a recliner. We all prayed, And I left saying to her: Good night my sweet super girl. Kissed her forehead and held her hand until she fell asleep. Then left. Early that next morning, she was having surgery to remove a tumor from the back of her brain. Before they put the meds in her to sleep she called me up, saying hi and asked if she will see me when she wakes up. Told her to dream about flying with the birds, watching over the world and using her strong hands to lift the spirits of all that needed a hug to help the world heal. Told her, I will be there.... Getting dressed, a few hours passed as I arrived at the hospital. I saw her mom and dad in the hallway of the hospital and walked up to them.. The doctor came up to us that had preformed the surgery. A nurse ran out of the recovery room and rushed the doctor and parents into the recovery room. They were there for about an hour. I was waiting my turn to see her when her parents walked out of the room, told me that the tumor was worse and it took her to Gods loving arms. Before she died she put her hands into her parents hands and said this. Tell Gramps I flew with the birds and angels. As she passed. Her parents told me of the news, yet a warm feeling came in my heart and hands. We held each others hands because that was one thing she always had us do. Hold each other no matter what happens in life. She will be missed and yet: somehow I think shell be around holding us all in spirit to help us heal and live and dream. This story was inspired by true events in my life. I was not her grandfather but a friend of the family. But she always managed to call me Gramps. Thank God little children dont put labels on us to hurt us where others put labels on us to cast us out... Think about it....
