I lost a good friend on Wednesday. John Burkhart. John always - TopicsExpress

I lost a good friend on Wednesday. John Burkhart. John always made life interesting, and always had interesting insights and views of people as well as the world around us. He was an avid history buff and voracious reader, but most of all, John was a good friend. We had great times working in Colorado, traveling to DC, and in our off time, flying around the Rocky mountains and eastern plains of Colorado and Nebraska. Ill never forget the time John wanted a closer look at Longs Peak so we went up in a 172XP and the air vent on his side was stuck open. It took us for ever to climb up to altitude. I was getting blasted with hot air from the heater and John was getting blasted with very cold air (14,500 ft). I was laughing so hard when we landed and I looked over at him and he still had his gloves on and heavy coat and hood drawn tight trying to thaw out. He loved flying and he loved the peaks of the Colorado Rockies. I was really hoping to summit a peak with him someday as I know he loved them dearly. John, you touched the lives of many people. I will miss you. You will never be forgotten. Rest in peace my friend.
