I love Ortiz. What he did in the post season last year was beyond ridiculous. The crazy thing is, for Ortiz it didnt even seem that extraordinary. Weve just come to expect that from him. Hands down the most clutch player to ever play professional sports. If the Tigers had the sense to pitch around Ortiz, they would have advanced to the World Series, not the Red Sox. I still cant believe they continued to pitch to him. All that being said, Ortizs obsession with money and sense of entitlement leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I dont know what it is about Dominican players. Pedro was just as bad, if not worse He kind of reminds me of the 5 year old throwing a tantrum in the middle of the aisle because mommy wont buy him the toy he wants. So she buys it to pacify him, even though he has a mountain of brand new toys at home. Sox management just keeps giving in to him to keep him quiet. At some point, given his age, one of these early extensions is going to backfire on the Sox. And its senseless, because they are bidding against themselves. Who else is going to give a DH pushing 40 that kind of money/years? All that aside, its not my money. So Im happy. I dont ever want to see him in another uniform.
