I love Pittsburgh, but I have done lots of traveling, and lived in several cities ( including the one I am about to name ). If you had to pick another city that is closest to Pittsburgh, what would it be? For me its Portland Oregon. Portland and Pittsburgh have lots in common, lots of bridges, nice people, awesome local business and food scene, low cost of living, cool history, sense of community, awesome microbrew beer scene, good sports scene as well, very tolerant. Ive often heard Portland referred to as the Pittsburgh of the west by former burgers who live in Portland. AND YES THEY HAVE A STEELERS BAR ;) AND! Just like Pittsburgh! Its a beautiful city with an incredible riverfront as well! If you are ever out west, Visit the Pittsburgh of the West Coast, Portland Oregon. You wont be disappointed. Name anything Pittsburgh has, Portland has it to, just in a different name. Portland grew up Blue Collar just like Pittsburgh, very rare out west. its not as cheap to live as Pittsburgh, but generally is much cheaper than the west coast.
