I love it when people try to distract from the subject to prove a point. If I say white privilege, then I am referring from a foundational level to the privilege that white people have in multi-racial spaces. If you want to talk about height privilege, weight privilege, gender politics, wealth, internet access, or water catchment, then we can have that conversation. However, I am talking about white privilege right now and where there is white privilege, there is an oppressed person of color. This is how it works. This is why if youre not a person who is consciously working toward the liberation of all oppressed people, then you are a part of the problem. Sometimes, working toward that liberation means that you listen, you search for context, you study the whys and hows, and you exercise compassion toward those who are hurting. Then, and only then, should you speak from a place of understanding, not arrogance or defense. With privilege comes responsibility. Be a part of the solution.
