I love that the literary world is so vast and inclusive—and there is obviously room for everyone in the publishing community—anybody whose work can rise to the top—but often I see statuses by professors demeaning the attendance record(s) (and late assignments) and making fun of honest assignment questions of their students. I understand that there are syllabi requirements and attendance is an important component of the overall grade, but often the teachers have little compassion or understanding for the individual circumstances of the students. I was one of these students, so I can relate and think it is often unfair how the professors and teachers demean the students just because they missed a few classes or assignments. Be careful teachers: one of those students might just catch up to you some day and maybe you might catch a glimpse of him or her in your rear-view.
