I love this letter written by the incredible Hunter S. Thompson. This was written back in 1958 when he was just 22, far before he became one of the most recognised writers of the 20th Century. His view on life and the way in which it should be lived is both refreshing and thought-provoking. This is his final paragraph in the letter and possibly my favourite of the letter. If you have a spare 2 minutes, Id recommend having a read as a lot of his beliefs resonate profoundly with me and my view of how life should be lived. Its the reason I started my business to enable others to take control of their lives once again. I love how the work I do gives people the freedom to break from the conformities of life and what is the so-called norm. It gives us the time to find what our purpose is in life and then chase after it. I am so thankful for the wonderful minds of the world like H. S. Thompson, for starting a business that I am passionate about, for every opportunity it has and will give me both here and internationally and for the most supportive, positive bunch of people I have ever met that are taking this ride with me. If any part of it doesn’t seem to make sense, by all means call it to my attention. I’m not trying to send you out “on the road” in search of Valhalla, but merely pointing out that it is not necessary to accept the choices handed down to you by life as you know it. There is more to it than that — no one HAS to do something he doesn’t want to do for the rest of his life. But then again, if that’s what you wind up doing, by all means convince yourself that you HAD to do it. You’ll have lots of company.
