I love this show, Hamilton Radio & Doc G & all of you. Thank you for today...and the playlist... 1. Dennis Holseybrook Go For A Ride intro... 2. Caddy (Thom Dahl) Beautiful Strange I wanted to have a 80s approach with this song. Big drums mixed with harmonies and a guitar solo at the end. I tried to turn it into some kind of a Don Henley - Boys of Summer-esque song. With a dreamy summer feel to it. https://facebook/caddynorway 3. Don Henley Boys Of Summer 4. Patcy In terms of a track that has inspired us. Its difficult to speak for Jon as well as myself, but the walkmen, the rat I feel has a lot of sentiment to Jon and I whilst living in bristol before recording the album. The track is about a typical disastrous breakup where the guy (lead singer) is letting out all his frustrations with his ex. Great wintery anxst, the kind of track you listen to and think, yeh, she really is pushing all the wrong buttons! She better open that f###g door and speak to the poor guy. In contrast, Million pieces is about a homeless and disregarded boy who sits in an undercarriage playing a penny whistle in bristol day in day out. The rest of the story is all fiction?? However, when i speak from the mothers perspective in the chorus, the rat inspired me to express myself in a similar way although in a different context. We didnt end up playing The Rat because of the nature of the station & received this...And yeh I love elvis costello so could always play one of his tracks?? Its entirely up to you... patchymusic Barrow Road Records available on Itunes, apple 5. Elvis Costello Allison 6. David Vidal After The Storm Of course it would be okay... let me figure out how to get you an mp3... that tune was written by Julie Didier and me... shes from Marksville, Louisiana... it was musically influenced by The Meters and Little Feat... not sure which tunes specifically... probably Dixie Chicken from Little Feat and Cissy Strut from the Meters... davidvidal.net/ 7. Little Feat Dixie Chicken 8. Ice Cream Men Stop!Stop! Cut an apple/ Eye in the sky -Alan Parsons project.....Tanu Tuva/Tomorrow never knows,The Beatles. Stop,stop/god only knows, beach boys reverbnation/icecreammen 9. Beach Boys God Only Knows 10. Billy Two Shoes Doggie Poo billytwoshoes/ Hillbilly Tom Jones...how about japanese cowboy by ween, from their 12 country golden greats album. 11.. Ween Japanese Cowboy 12. The JAC (Joe Algeri) Truly Julie & Terry This is one of my favourites from the album as I think as song, in its own right, it is one of the better ones. When I started writing it I wanted it to be an updated version of “Waterloo Sunset” by the Kinks so that is comparative track I’d like you play. The observational song-writing style of Ray Davies has been an enormous and enduring influence in my writing even though I don’t think you can always hear it. Just out of interest the title is also a play on “Truly Julie’s Blues” by Bob Lind. I was also listening to the a lot of Bob Lind when I wrote and recorded the album. joealgeri.bandcamp/ 13. The Kinks Waterloo Sunset 14. Blake Jones & The Trike Shop Sun Up alright...in SPITE of the fact that it was pointed out to me after Id written it, that the opening melody (chorus) to Sun Up sounds a bit tooo much like The Beatles (there, Ive mentioned them!laughs) Magical Mystery Tour (roll up!)....that was completely unconcious...but..do you know The Roches? their 1982 album Keep on Doing stopped me cold in Tower Records where it was playing in the store. I had to ask who is this? The second track on that album Losing True..not only has lovely harmonies , but it has a very Robert Fripp guitar solo (he produced this album)--and I was going for that sound in the guitar solo of Sun Up. blakejonesmusic/ 15. Beatles Magical Mystery Tour 16. Acoustic Souls Divination A band located in Spain consisting of 3 brothers & an (almost brother drummer). Their songs are strongly influenced by US southern sounds (from Allmans Brothers Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Black Label Society, Alice In Chains or Down) and 70s sounds as well (Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin)...I chose Allman Brothers Ramblin Man... reverbnation/acousticsouls 17. Allman Brothers Ramblin Man 18. Thadeus Project Ghost Of Dawn ghost of dawn was written after ted and i experanced a number of personal losses in our lives. ( parents, and close friends) its really a statement to our mortality. and the tenous and confounding thing that binds us all together. life comes and goes sometimes roaring and rageing. and sometimes as quiet and peaceful as a sun rise. the human condition. we sing and cry. hoping for that warm glimmer to return, looking for answers that make life matter to us. somehow we find them, or they find us. g Guinevere by Crosby,Stills & Nash. !!!! Great song!!!! thadeusproject/ reverbnation/thadeusproject 19.. Crosby, Stills & Nash Guinevere 20. Dennis Holseybrook Go For A Ride outro...
