I love watching birds so a few months ago I put out a dish with some birdseed in it. Soon I had birds and squirrels visiting. There were a couple of families of redbirds, the occasional blue jay but mostly sparrows. It was fun to watch the juveniles fluff themselves up and a parent pop some seed in its mouth. Recently there have been a lot more birds and with more coming their behaviour has gotten more aggressive. Last week a pair of cowbirds joined the mix so I looked up cowbirds to find out more about them. I dont care for them very much. But I think while its still summer Im going to stop giving out the free seed. My porch is increasingly messy, the birds are increasing in number and they fight each other off more often. Its still fun for me to get to see them but before winter comes and they get to depending on it, Ill let them get back to finding their own food. I really dont like the fighting.
