I made the Mistake of pulling into a Gas Station a while back that was owned by a Casino up the road. When I went inside to pay for the gas, I seen security Guards standing around. Me being the inquisitive person I am, I quickly made conversation with a guard to ask why the security was needed at the gas station. WOW, was I blown away by this Guys conversation. The Guard answered my question in vivid details of horrific stories of married couples, suicidal men and women, who had just lost everything they owned. The Guard said by the time they get here to put what they can scrap up in gas or cigarettes to get home, this is where they realize they have just lost everything and ruined their lives. Married Couples get into explosive fights playing the blame game. Men and women begin to break down and try to commit suicide, because they have just watched their hopes and dreams, Life savings and college funds for the children, in which they worked so hard for just go out the window. Moms and dads realize their children wont be eating or are going to be with out electricity and water. They begin to sink in to lows and depression times of darkness and a heaviness that seems to tell them the only way out is either total abandonment or death. Many parents gas up for the last time, never to return home because of shame and guilt. So why the guards, to make sure that the trouble doesnt stop there, but they send it down the road, to not dirty up the image and reputation of the Casinos. But for me the thing that stood out most was when I made the comment not many Christians attend the Casino I hope, and He said he knew several local leaders and lay people of the local churches who frequented on a regular basis. He told me of a Local Pastor, who frequented often, and would jokingly comment on going where the flock is, I was overwhelmed. When has such a horrible sin, become such a welcoming practice among Gods ppl. two tings that should never Go together as a form of Morality, is the words Christian and Gambling.
