I met Myles last year and when I think of #BlackLivesMatter, I always think about him and his mama Tracy McKever, among others. I saw this piece posted on instagram and immediately contacted his mama. Im glad its now available as print. This piece was originally a painting on paper which is now wheatpasted to a doorway in the Bed-Stuy neighborhood of Brooklyn. It will be up as long as it remains un-buffed. It will likely be tagged and eventually over time peel off. The block it lives on is between Tompkins and Marcy on Myrtle Ave. It is dedicated to Myles McKever with the hopes that he and other kids of his generation will grow up in a world where they will be free from fear of being targeted, harassed & brutalized by the police and vigilantes because of the color of their skin.
