I met a super adorable gal last night while bartending. I invited her to my show coming up and we were on the topic of burlesque. Long story short she tried explaining to me that she was a big producer of burlesque blah blah blah. She didnt know who The Bridge City Bombshells even were. Not to toot my own horn on some BCB...without that group.. I would have been nobody... And the rest of our Pittsburgh scene would be nothing. No joke. We brought the resurgence of the art form back into the community. BCB isnt together anymore, thats life. But, guess what...the originators of that group are the top performers in Pittsburgh. Yeah... The 5 of us still *run* the scene in some aspect. So remember Kiddos who you are. Who we are. This scene isnt that big.... So keep the peace. Make Art. Stay beautiful... And together Pittsburgh burlesque scene will stay on top. As for the gal, she was a sweet chick and I really hope she attends my show Thursday. As for me, my brain gears started twitching a bit learning the information about what she thought our scene came from and was. Just because you learned how to use a boa at a workshop, attended a show, have a witty name, doused yourself in glitter.... Doesnt make you a good performer let alone a performer. I am 5 years in and I can now say Ive been there and done that. This might make me sound like the biggest dick ever. I really dont care. I just wish our scene in Pittsburgh wasnt so watered down.
