I might get kicked off of Facebook or disowned by a few people - TopicsExpress

I might get kicked off of Facebook or disowned by a few people behind this post but so be it. People are outraged over the Mike Brown incident along with the Eric Gardner incident and a host of other incidents that have taken place recently. What Im outraged about as an African-American male is videos like the one in this post, and the video Ive seen of people using the platform of the Mike Brown shooting to destroy their own neighborhoods and rob and steal from businesses. Im outraged by it because there are no snakes like Al Sharpton around to call us African-Americans out on our bullshit when we do stuff like this. Im outraged by it because El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz (Malcolm X) was all for African-Americans defending themselves against the police or whoever committed an act of injustice against them, but he also warned African-Americans against purposely breaking any laws that would provoke any acts of injustice to be brought upon us. Dr. King lead marches to bring worldwide attention to the unjust treatment many African-Americans had to deal with before and during the civil rights movement until he was assassinated, and he did it in hopes of bringing about the day when we all regardless of race, color, or creed could live and coexist in the world the way God or whoever your deity you believe in intended for us to. Im outraged by it because as I have said on numerous occasions, my community, the African-American community is quick to cry foul, hold hands and march, and definitely put out the old trusty camera phone to get that WORLDSTAR exclusive, when a video of a police officer pops up in an incident like the unfortunate one with Eric Gardner or Mike Brown; but when the riots breakout, when the crime is black on black, and when teens like the one in this video does stuff like this, the African-American community turns a blind eye to it. So I say again that until the African-American community does more to police and fix itself from within, educate itself, and learn not to act like an albatross, we can be as outraged as we want when a Mike Brown or Eric Gardner incident occurs but it will do no good as long as we continue to act no better than those we believe to be targeting us.
