I miss my babies newtikew and ahpschenese ...right about now theyd - TopicsExpress

I miss my babies newtikew and ahpschenese ...right about now theyd be getting ready for bed. I sing them nehiyaw songs as they fall asleep. Our Indigenous songs hold our history and our knowledge. For example, Im not sure but I think it was after the second world event that our instruments were taken away by the Creator as a form of punishment because our people broke too many laws. It was during this dark time when no songs were heard that the women saved the songs by using the rhythm of the wind, lake waves and the winged to keep the songs alive. They would sing the songs in time with the waves of water as it hit the shore lines using it as a drum beat. The songs endured because the women found a way to sing them. After that, the Creator blessed the women with a song that is sung without instruments and has the ability to put children to sleep in its love and peace. That song has endured to this day. Its the same song I try to sing my babies. Our prophecis say we are now facing the fifth world event. Good night folks miyotipiskansik.
