“I missed grandpa, Haik” it is not the first time that I am - TopicsExpress

“I missed grandpa, Haik” it is not the first time that I am hearing this from my youngest son, Peter. Few months ago when Gilbert was singing “you are my father” song, I found peter crying hard in a corner, saying “I miss grandpa” and asking me “Why did he have to die”? I really didn’t have a convincing answer at that moment and just hugged him and told him to be honest I miss him too... Today, we had gone to the cemetery for one of our relatives’ memorial, and my son was walking around looking at the grave stones, searching for the names. He came back and told me he found one grave with “Haik”, but the last name wasn’t Hovsepian. I told him there are many others whose name is also Haik. But his grandpa Haik was buried in Iran and now is in heaven. On our way back home, only two of us in the car, we had a general conversation about death and heaven. Then very calmly and proudly he said, when I get old and die, I want to be buried in Iran, next to Haik. I didn’t know how to react as I didn’t want to make a dramatic scene, but at that very moment I realized he has a unique connection with Haik, and he has recognized what a great man of God his grandpa was, and I was glad that he would be making him his own role model as he follows Jesus in his life. Martyrs will never be forgotten.
