I must be an over achiever. There are 20 students in my class and our introductions and screen shots are due tomorrow. I just logged in to reply to some of the other students and my posting was the only one in there besides my instructor. Plus, I already have my assignment 2 finished and am trying to figure out assignment 3. Assignment 3: If you are still using the free trial of Adobe Creative Suite, you will be unable to use the software through the end of this course. Please be sure to purchase Adobe Creative Suite 6 so that you have the software in your possession before the trial expires. If you installed the software on day one of this course, your trial will expire onFriday, November 15, 2013. The assignments for Week 1 are designed to help you work with your computer system. You will learn basic file management and conversion tasks that are critical for your success in the online creative environment. In this assignment, you will work with files to demonstrate multiple proficiencies. Part One: • Using your scanner, scan a copy of a page/section of your local newspaper and save the file as a tagged image file (TIF). • Create a new Microsoft Word document. Go to your discussion post answer for W1: Assignment 1 (your biography) and select the text of the answer you posted. Copy and paste the text into the Word document. Save the Word Document as LastName_W1_A3. Save your file in Word, then choose Print to PDF or Save as Adobe PDF. Be sure to open the PDF afterward to make sure the transfer was successful. Important software note: If you are working with the Creative Suite Demo and have not yet received your install DVD, you will need to return to the Adobe site and download and install the Adobe Acrobat Pro demo. The Creative Suite DVD ships with Acrobat Pro Version 9. Adobe recently introduced a new standalone version 10. You cannot find version 9 on the Web site and it is not included with the Creative Suite demo. You cannot complete the PDF portion of this assignment without a version of Acrobat Pro installed on your system. If you do download the Acrobat Pro X demo, you will need to uninstall it and install Acrobat Pro Version 9 from your Creative Suite 5 DVD. Part Two: • Merge the two halves of the scanned floor plan provided in the zipped file found by clicking here and using the scan and merge tutorial in the lecture page, create a single floor plan that is 11” x 17” in size. • Click here and register for an Adobe ID: o Adobe Marketplace and Exchange. Adobe. Adobe Systems Incorporated. n.d. Web. 25 January 2011. Adobe Exchange is a valuable resource for designers. It contains a collection of useful creative content that you can download and use in your work. You can download most of the content for free. Part Three: • Place all three files (scanned newspaper article, PDF of Word Document, and Merged Floor Plan) into a single folder. • Compress the files by zipping them (use PC Right Click_Compress method). • Name the zip file “AI_G150_W1_A3_LastName_FirstInitial.zip”. • Upload the zipped files as your assignment. Part Four: In 1–2 paragraphs, to be posted directly into the assignment thread, write a detailed summary of your experience covering the following: • New tools or concepts about which you learned. • Any challenges you experienced in completing the exercises. • Be careful to use correct spelling and grammar. By Sunday, October 20, 2013, upload the zipped files and post your summary to the Discussion Area. By the end of the week, review and comment on at least two peers’ responses: • Explore alternative methods of completing the tasks. • Recommend solutions for the challenges experienced. In all discussions be honest, clear, and concise. Always use constructive language, even in criticism, to work toward the goal of positive progress
