I must say that I really enjoyed my pastor today. Nothing like actually understanding the word and relating it to your everyday life: The scripture that we focused on was Luke 14:25-33 God is separating the serious believers from the casual followers; he states in order to be a disciple you must follow these 3 rules: 1) You must have no rivals- meaning nothing can compare to Jesus in your life, hes #1, he must mean more to you than anything/anybody; you must love him more than your mother, father, brother, sister, wife, kids, your job, your money etc... 2.) Pursue Jesus against ALL resistance: in other words with all of the obstacles and life challenges you face you must know at the end of the day hes still worth following, cant give up on him just b/c things dont go your way, you must always believe in him NO MATTER WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Would you still follow him if.... -you lost a family member? -lost your job, home all your money? -if you have an illness and the doctor gave you 24hrs to live? -if you prayed & fasted and wanted something so bad and it seemed to never come your way? Think about it? 3.) You must first build your foundation and calculate if you have what it takes to follow Jesus. Must be able to finish what you started. God doesnt care about how you start the race he only cares about you making it to the finish line. You must be willing to give up EVERYTHING you have in order to be a true disciple and follower of God. God already granted us the key to heaven, when he died for our sins. Many people talk the talk but very few actually walk the walk. AMEN
