I need advice in what steps to take against a very confused and uncaring union unless your part of the click. A few weeks back I was on my way to do a broadway in and found out my Mother had been sent home from the hospital to die. There is nothing left that they can do. I was on load rail and managed to make it through stacking pig iron. Then my stomach turned upside down and although our BA would not let me explain to him why I felt I needed to leave our steward understood and allowed me to go ahead and go. When I can in Sunday for the out I had been condemned and told I wasnt working the out or any other futur gigs because I left the in. This is coming from a union that says we are not supposed to use a seniority system but we do. Yet I can come in about any time and find unskilled people under me or even nonunion people working. I have been injured 3 times in the past ten years and was told by our controlling secretary that he would not file report and I still have a broken elbow and ruined back. He changes our rules out of convenience for himself and not the good of our people. This is the same person who if you ask for more work says go get unemployment. They will not do anything to get us work outside the building. We were bringing new members once a year but do to lack of votes Im sure we have brought in neq members 3- 4 times this year and even made some of these people journeyman even though they have never seen this work much less done it. We need an audit done. Anyway there are many more of my own complaits but to give me shit because I had trouble dealing with the news of my mom. I say shame on you local 900 Huntsville. Had it been others there would have been flowers sent and post made. But some that has spoken up and stood up to the bullshit wont get shown the love.
