I need parenting advice. I cant go to my parents as they totally sucked as parents in my teen years and I DO NOT WANT TO BE LIKE THEM! My son is 11 and he pushes my buttons. If I say the sky is blue he says "not really". If I say hey I saw this video you will like. He watches and says "yah, what was cool there". The things I HATE about me he has and I HATE them about him as well. He is only 11 and I know if I do not love him the right ways and nurture the GOOD parts of him....the teen years will push us to fighting and apart. When he does not listen, ask me the same question 4 times in 4 min. , and acts like everything I have to say is useless...IT PUSHES MY BUTTONS...and at this point I am getting upset. I cant NOT keep doing it. I dont want to keep doing it. I want to be the parent mine were not. I want to grow his strengths not get pissed off at his weaknesses. I already suck and he is 11 yrs old. Please give me a nugget of wisdom as I can see he is turning away already and losing trust/confidence in me. I HAVE TO CHANGE THIS NOW!
