I need to do public teshuvah (repentance) for a FB post I made last week. I contrasted donating to build the 3rd Temple in Jerusalem with saving children from malaria. I didnt mean to discourage support for a Jewish institution (only to evoke moral reasoning) but some interpreted my post as discouraging financial support. I am a pluralist (pragmatic & epistemic) so even if I dont want to participate in a particular religious approach I would not discourage supporting any Jewish institution based upon my theological differences. I am grateful to my rabbinic colleague/friend who pointed this out to me today. Friends, please accept my forgiveness for my insensitive post which could have been written more carefully. I want to promote religious pluralism and that extends very broadly in all directions.
