I need to produce three church bulletins for September through November. They are in two-column format. The trick is that one column is German and the other is the English equivalent. The columns should stay in alignment, even though they will be composed on one computer, but printed from another. From what I read in blogs, everyone is waiting for a feature in word processing programs that keeps parallel columns in alignment. I have decided to use text boxes without visible borders. I use OpenOffice.org software and save documents in Word 97/2000/XP format. Before I send the document for printing, I will use OOos PDF conversion feature to save and send in that format. This project is a lot of work, no matter what. But, this will guarantee predictable results that do not need fixing when it is time to print.
