I never paid much attention to this album, but I love kanye even more for this [Blood on the leaves” is a metaphor Kanye uses throughout Yeezus. You can see those exact words in “New Slaves”, as well. Slavery, society, and death are all reoccurring themes on this album, and you can definitely see it in this song, as well. Once again, society and fames are the killers here. I think the blood on the leaves is talking about people bleeding at the expense of money, materialism, and corporations, and people and their minds hanging dead as a consequence. The opening by Nina Simone clues us in that someone/something has died in this song. In this case, a relationship has died at the hands of society and fame. In Verses 1-3, we see a relationship torn apart due to fame. The woman that became famous by being with Kanye is not the woman he originally fell in love with. They could’ve been somebody, had she not fallen into the traps and evils of fame and society.
