I nursed and do formula until my milk suddenly, for no good reason dried up almost a month ago. I was so mad, of course because my milk was gone, but mostly because I was feeling guilty. Like somehow I had failed because I couldnt nurse anymore. As if something had gone horribly wrong and it was all my fault, all because society puts so much emphasis on breast milk, breast milk, breast milk. Trust me, I wanted to nurse. I wanted to have so much milk I could freeze the extra for later on. I pushed through the pain (my mom can attest to that), the dried, cracked skin, the blisters, the bleeding. I did everything you can think of to increase my milk supply and still didnt have enough. And after all that it stopped. Well society, to you I say BITE ME. Or perhaps SUCK IT would be more appropriate here. ;) And to all you moms out there - past, present, and future - if your babies are happy and healthy keep doing what youre doing because youre doing (or have done) it right (especially my mom :D ).
