I officially hate Saint Thomas More hospital now. I had surgery this morning for ACL reconstruction and I woke up in so much pain I was hyperventilating from the pain and bawling. I said help me!!!! All I remember them saying was calm down your breathing. I was in so much pain I couldnt, despite my best efforts. And so they wouldnt give me any more pain medicine because it was dropping my oxygen levels too low but the reason I was hyperventilating is because I was in so much pain!!! I said please let me talk to my doctor! They said later. So I begged them to knock me back out unconscious an hour or please at least do something! I was bawling and instead of trying to figure out something they took me out of the recovery room and had me get dressed, they put me in my car to go home and go home in the same condition. Is it not the hospitals job to get the pain under control before discharge!?! So now Im laying here now with a nerve block pump in my knee, 3 ice packs, pain medication, anxiety medication and Im still trying not to cry a lot. Is it not the model of recovery to get the pain under control?! They swear they will never send somebody home with uncontrollable pain! I cannot believe Im in such a horrible mess of pain, and Im appalled at this situation and post op care of this hospital. Im very saddened by the lack of human care and responsibility of St Thomas Moore hospital. So now Im alone with no medical professionals to assist me in figuring out what the problem is. When I asked to speak with my doctor when I was in the recovery room they said he will come in and talk to me in a little bit but then when I got to my room and i asked again to see him, they made me start get dressed to leave and then they said the doctor already came to see me in the recicery room so he was not coming back in and hes already in his b next surgery. Not only does that seem like a lie the first time or second time but if Im asking for my doctor because of medical problem I am deeply concerned that I have not spoke with him after the surgery then theres a big problem. I have no memory of any post op instructions that was given to me after I woke up. I was in so much pain but its not that I dont remember what was said I dont even remember them discussing post op care.
