I often forget that open public beach access up to the high tide - TopicsExpress

I often forget that open public beach access up to the high tide line does not exist in other parts of the Country, particularly in Massachusetts. My grandfather built a cinderblock summer cottage in Harwich, MA on Cape Cod. Every summer my family vacationed there, and almost every day we would pack a picnic lunch and make the 5-10 minute trek down Bank Street and set up camp for a large portion of the day. This included a long and peaceful stroll across Bayview Beach and Merkel Beach out to the very end of the rock jetty (we sometimes fished from the jetty) and then back for more swimming and sandy fun. The idea that 100 years of public access across this beach could be taken away using some ancient colonial ordinances seems unfair and wrong.
