I once was taught a very valuable lesson by my grandfather and it - TopicsExpress

I once was taught a very valuable lesson by my grandfather and it came in the most interesting fashion. My grandmother would make me the most amazing lunches for our fishing trips packed even with her famous pickles. What my grandfather would do is not allow me to eat anything until I caught a fish. I always felt that was such a harsh thing and if Grandma was close she certainly would have scolded him for such actions. However what my grandpa was doing was making me a man and forcing me to take control of a situation that I really didnt control over. Lets be real he drove the boat so I had no control over fish being under the boat. Today it all hit home as every obstacle I could imagine hit me head on. I had to go without a little food and take control of the situation and face the adversity head on in order to be able to eat tomorrow. REAL tough love is sometimes the best solution even if not appreciated in the moment. One day it will click and you will understand why you remembered such tough love in the first place. For anyone close to me that receives my tough love only know that I have all of the best intentions in the world. I am a lucky man to have such amazing and tough male role models in my life. My father and my grandfather will forever follow me through life helping my best foot forward. See I tattooed an anchor that says dad right next to a pickle on a fishing hook on my right leg so that I never forget my foundation and every lesson I learned along the way. If you ever think about judging someone on their tattoos make sure to ask the meaning behind them first.
