I organized some more, going over my outline and simplifying it. I went to boxing class early and wrote an idea that I’d had about my Jane and Bingley characters. I think they may be funny. I also tried to work on the scene where Darcy says he loves Elizabeth in spite of the people around her. I may change her former boss to something not so good — but in a funny way. I went to boxing and as usual, Gerry and I had a good talk. I said the Billy Bob Thornton character in the new Fargo series was like someone who used to be in my life, and Gerry thought I should put him in a book. I might do that with the Wickham character. Have you ever been around anyone who would do things like hide your glasses, car keys, whatever, then tell you that you are a disorganized person because you can’t find them? What about telling you you’ve been invited to someone’s house for dinner, then just as you are about to leave, they show up at your house expecting a meal? I could go on, but you get the idea.
