I posted a very passionate and honest post last night, detailing my opinions elicited by church concerts. While I still firmly hold true to those thoughts (be it nonconformist or seen as heretical), they are now deleted. Why??? Because just as I called clergy, promoters, and musicians to a response, I was called to response, having seen the prospect of my opinions and convictions mishandled. I choose to better govern my cyber-influence, as text can be taken out of context when tone is misread. To be clear, for those of you who knew what spawned my post, ... 1. I did not intend to diminish the PURPOSE of the concert, by expressing my thoughts about the MEANS in which the purpose was carried out. 2. I did not wish to invite gossip or unwarranted conversations that would lead to no resolve. 3. Also, my opinions were in fact passionate and from a place of disappointment, but NOT to be malicious and vindictive. Or passive aggressive. Thats not my style. My words were meant to edify and directed to the Body...not to magnify or isolate any particular people...and when my words presumably were going in the direction of not edifying, I knew it was wise to delete it. I dont want my word to be without salt and light. So, I apologize if the aforementioned was presumed from my post. I had several constructive conversation last night, unpacking my post, and if you recall how I ended the post, My conviction is that EVERYTHING should call the believer to repentance...whether it was your fault or the fault of someone/something else. Repentance prevents us from being judgmental. It prevents us from falling out of the alignment with behavior thats acceptable to God. More importantly, it should inspire a change through empathy, being gracious, and looking at the situation through the lens of how WE can be drawn closer to God. The readers of my post need to understand that YES! I have an opinion, but I confront God and He confronts me. I didnt just post my issues to justify reasons for me and others to abandon and forsake concerts. As I said before, Im suggesting we examine our hearts, ensuring that corporate worship experiences are meaningful, spiritual, and truthful. Lovingly submitted, Me again 😊
