I posted this awhile back, and still feel equally as passionate about it as I did when I wrote it. I dont normally express any too serious of an opinion on any social networking site, as I feel that its largely pointless. However, I am so sick of witnessing ignorance be glorified throughout my generation. If you are of the belief that being intelligent is uncool or weird then I encourage you to reevaluate your thought process. It is not an accomplishment to not have read a full book in your life. Its not becoming if you cant spell properly or construct an intelligible sentence. If youre flunking out of school, thats reason to worry. If you arent willing to be open minded and question why you do the things you do, you are being entirely counterproductive to your own growth as an individual. If you are allowing your head to be filled with the garbage the mainstream media feeds us, and your mind to be desensitized by the same, you are merely a product of an increasingly controlling monopoly. I respect this generations embrace of ideas of self expression, individualism, and success. I dont however, respect the tolerance of ignorance, and the unwillingness to think with the brain that only humans have the privilege of holding right under our skulls. If there is any point to life, shouldnt it be to seek whatever form of knowledge that will lead to whatever truth we seek? I think, yes. Knowledge is power, people. Never were words so true.
