I purposely tried to give a human cashier at the grocery store a chance to do their job instead of self checkout. The cashier, Laurie, a middle-aged white woman with a standoffish smile that could keep Mr. Freeze cold without his suit. Lauren saw me, sighed deeply and then requested me to go over to self checkout. She wasn’t busy at all. There were only 3 of us in line. As I walked away confused, all I could think was: “Bring on Skynet. Bring on Ultron. Call Morpheus and tell him it’s off. We’re lazy idiots and I promise to text you when we are all enslaved. Best of luck to us all.”
