I ran across this post card I had which I believe is from the late 80s (before we were incorporated into NTB). It has been interesting reading the history of the North End posted on this page; my family are original owners of a home on the North End and have enjoyed 30 years of a peaceful quiet beach, yes we have seen hurricanes and erosion but we have also seen the beach expand when sand was pumped from the inlet as late as the mid 2000s. The rapid erosion since the channel realignment has been horrible to watch, not only for the folks in danger of losing their homes but also the fate of the entire North End. Aside from the sandbag project that is currently underway to save the oceanfront homes from washing away I certainly hope there are plans to address the recent rapid erosion that has occurred as it appears the whole North End will be affected. The Channel Realignment Project needs to be evaluated. It is one thing to watch erosion from mother nature (storms etc.) however this appears to be a man made issue.
